Confusing Words > ago and before


AGO AND BEFORE
Ago always counts back from the present time. If we are counting back from a past time, use ->before .

Examples:

I met Steven in Germany 10 years ago.

Talking to him I found out that I had been at university with his sister twenty years before.

She met him in France in November 2008; he told her he had published a book five years before.
